Directors' Report 2010/11

The GBA has been moving into the online social networking world, and now has 3,000 subscribers, with GBA members promoting their businesses to this growing group of followers.

Among the highlights of the past year:

- 800 LGBT owned businesses had applied for London 2012 contracts: 24% had been sucessul, and 6.5% had won contracts already - an above average success rate.

- All of the GBA's original 1983 aims and objectives had now been achieved

- GBA members can now show 300x250 banners on the web site

- 'GBA Market Intelligence' is providing useful news and information to members

- We plan to add more business-focused seminars on members' premises (interested?)

Professional workshops planned

We have some exciting projects to consider:

a) Working with the Consortium of LGBT Voluntary Organisations (who have lost most of their funding and reduced staff from 14 to 3) on a conference in Spring 2012.

b) Working with WorldPride and Pride House on a visitor centre during London 2012 Olympics.

c) Organising a conference for Pride Organisers.

d) More business-focused workshops and seminars on GBA member premises.

World Pride comes to London 2012

Pride London, which has the honour of hosting WorldPride2012 in London next year, is delighted to confirm that it has presented plans to host the biggest Pride Event ever in London to key authorities in the citys. It includes:

· Longer - The Parade will once again begin from Baker Street making the route over half a mile longer.

· Bigger, better – after the Parade the events space will this year extend from Oxford Street in the north to Shaftsbury Avenue in the south including a return to Leicester Square

· Family area - offering parents and children the opportunity to enjoy WorldPride in a safe laid-back space.

· A second day - Sunday 8th July plans are being formed to help visitors make the most of the WorldPride weekend and recover on the morning after the night before.
